The German Future Prize
The exhibition on the Federal President's Award – popularly known as the German Future Prize – was the first section to be updated as part of the modernisation programme, and has since re-opened at a new location in the museum.
Even if predicting the future is impossible – we can help to shape it! "Turning ideas into success": the Deutsches Museum has been showing how that works for 10 years in the permanent exhibition on the German Future Prize. It has now become the first of the museum's exhibitions to be redesigned, updated and re-opened at a new location under the Future Initiative. It tells the story of the 10 most recent innovations honoured by the president of Germany for their scientific excellence and long-term impact. The winners' research is presented in separate project islands. The latest addition is the 2014 winner, which made its debut when the exhibition re-opened: The winning project, "Food ingredients from lupins", is a contribution to scientific knowledge on a balanced supply of protein in the diet.
