Everything's out!
The museum has completely cleared out the exhibition areas being modernised in the first phase.
Everything's out! Over the past few months, a total of around 8,000 exhibits have been cleared out of the rooms scheduled for modernisation in the first phase of the project. The work started with an evaluation of each object to decide on the appropriate transport and storage arrangements. For complete documentation, every item – from the spinet piano to microscopes and aircraft – was assigned a bar code before being packed with care and moved to its new locations. Most were stored in the museum depository. Some – such as the Starfighter aircraft and the rocket sled – will be on display in the Flugwerft Schleissheim or Verkehrszentrum branch museums until the fully refurbished exhibitions are reopened. The pictures above show the empty spaces left behind by the moving crews who cleared out the Agriculture exhibition, Water, Bridges and Tunnels, Aeronautics, Musical Instruments and Telecommunications.
