At 11:41 a.m. on August 29, 2021, "Aunt Ju" landed back where it belongs: on Museum Island in Munich. The legendary Junkers Ju 52 airplane has returned to the Deutsches Museum. The plane is the largest exhibit in the museum's new exhibitions, which are currently being set up in the southern part of the museum building. The fuselage of the "Aunt Ju" is 14 meters long and weighs 2.5 tons. Almost exactly five years to the day, the aircraft stood in the depot while the museum building was being renovated. At the end of August, it was transported back to Museum Island on two low-loaders - one for the fuselage, one for the wings. Now it is back in the large aerospace hall of the Deutsches Museum.
